ree Stewardship Awards are given to residents who have done an exemplary job of caring for trees on their properties. Factors that are considered when assessing a young tree or newly planted replacement tree for a Stewardship Award include site selection, appropriateness for the Delaware Valley, and proper planting, mulching, and pruning. Criteria used to evaluate established trees include correct pruning, maintenance of the root system within the lawn, and remarkable features of the tree itself. If you would like to nominate a local homeowner for a Tree Stewardship Award, please print out and mail a completed form for this purpose to Rick Ray, Marple Tree Commission, 227 South Sproul Road, Broomall, PA 19008.
