The Marple Tree Commission launched Re-Leaf Marple in 2012, a project that focuses on planting trees on private property. Since 2007, the Tree Commission had planted trees only in parks and public spaces. Realizing that the parks would soon have a sufficient number of newly planted trees, the Tree Commission began to shift its emphasis from planting trees in parks to planting trees at the homes of local residents.
Since its inception, Re-Leaf Marple has planted approximately 80 trees in the yards of Marple’s residents, part of an on-going effort to create a leafy canopy above all neighborhoods within Marple Township.
